Pax tranquilitas ordinis.
– St. Augustine
“Peace is the tranquility of order.” These wise words of St. Augustine sum up a central theme of Christian life.
Peace is the reward of a well-ordered life; understanding our relationship to God, our relationship to others, and our relationship to ourselves, our inner order, or the continuous harmony of intellect, will and passions.
When we understand ourselves in terms of this hierarchy, everything fits into place, and so many worries and anxieties are lifted.
With God as Our Father, what have we to worry about? Does He not love us more than we can imagine loving? Does He not hold us in the palm of his hand?
He makes every other effort possible. He gives strength to every other endeavor. If you turn to him. If you open the walls of your heart to the flood of His love, it will wash away your doubts and fears and uncertainties, filling you with the warmth of His peace.
Understand who you are. Understand how much you are loved. Understand you are here for a purpose. Now leave the rest to Him. He can take care of it better anyway.
That’s what I intend to do.
